Matters of Perspective

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose. ”
~Romans 8:28

A family relocated, and in so doing they entrusted the shipping of their belongings to the movers they hired.
They looked forward to the arrival of their personal possessions, some of which were irreplaceable heirlooms. The day finally came, and as they started to unpack the boxes  they realized that not all was well. As they unpacked they realized that some of the precious things had been damaged or destroyed.
Their anger smouldered against the careless packers; they felt betrayed by the moving company they had placed their trust in, let down by those who were recommended to them.
But then headlines began to flash across their smart-phones…a massacre in Paris, another in Colorado, men of God imprisoned in for years in foreign countries, others still dying for the Christian faith, refusing to recant even as an AK-47 pointed at their own head or those of their children’s.
As this family began to consider their circumstances and those of suffering brothers and sisters in the faith across the earth, they realized how blessed they were: a nice home, a bed to sleep in, all the conveniences of modern life in a free country. The unhappiness and anger ebbed away as they began thanking God, the maker of Heaven and Earth. They began to understand yet again, the truth of Romans 8:28. God ALWAYS works for the good of those who love Him.
The Scriptures say ALWAYS, even when-especially when-things don’t initially meet nose to nose with our skewed  and oftentimes worldly-minded expectations.
