The Question of Why

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all. Ps.34:19

Recently we heard of a young woman, a wife, mother, sister, a daughter, a passionate follower of Yeshua,
a much beloved worship leader, who passed away from cancer at a very young age.
Thousands across the earth agreed in prayer for her healing; declarations and proclamations were made to, but no avail.
She passed over from this life into eternity.
Why (did she die)?
Other good and righteous people we know, people we love, battle incurable illnesses, hoping for healing.
To some it comes, and yet to others it doesn’t.
And those left behind also ask: Why?
” My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him”. – Psalm 62:5
The question of the ages, to be sure.
Many thoughts run through our minds in times like this; mine always begin and end with “why”
and sandwiched between this repeated query are still other questions:
Why them and not some really evil people, who seem to live seemingly charmed lives.
To me it boils down to this: God is God. He is the indisputable Master of the Entire Universe.
And He doesn’t owe me any explanation.
Most importantly, I can trust Him.
He sacrificed His Only Son because He loved me – and you- that much.
This doesn’t mean we as believers will get a “hall pass” , a free ride to health, wealth and prosperity.
Some would say suffering happens because the person sinned and is being punished,
or wasn’t delivered because they lacked enough faith…NONSENSE.
Suffering happens as God allows, and the simple truth is that none of us knows why.
But I do have perfect faith in my Father in Heaven who loves me.
One day, unknown to any except the Father, it will be my turn, and on another day,
it may be yours.
On that day when we see Him face-to-face that answer will finally be known.
Don’t grieve for me-I have been purchased by the blood of Yeshua, my salvation and eternity in Heaven, assured.
Do you have that same blessed assurance?

“They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat;
For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd, He will lead them to springs of living water
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” Rev. 7:16-17
