Promises

“Then the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you,
and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you…” Deut.11:23

God told the children of Israel repeatedly that He would without question drive out pagan peoples, unbelievers,  who were occupying the places that He promised to give them. In return He required their 100% obedience to His commandments and their total faith and trust, even when they might not have seen the evidence of The Promise at that moment.  A million plus Jewish people had been delivered from slavery by a strong hand and outstretched arm… seen the parting of the sea as they stood on the shore with the Egyptian Army in hot pursuit, watched the enemy’s horses, riders, and chariots perish in the blink of an eye. They would drink water from a rock and be nourished by manna for 40 years.
El Shaddai would deliver on His Promise and those who believed Him would live by faith.
They would take possession of everything the Lord had promised.

The amazing accounts from the Bible are metaphors for our owns lives.
Our lives-hearts, souls, and minds- are contested battlegrounds.
A vicious enemy fights tooth-and-nail to keep a hold of places that they occupy illegally, places created by God.
These “places” are precious to the Father, and there is a path by which He guides us as we seek Him.
His Word is a Light unto our paths, and a lamp unto our feet…we take a step in faith and obedience, and then the next step is illuminated by His Word and Holy Spirit, and so we take another, and then another…
So move forward, beloved.
Gain ground, drive out sin, and claim what belongs to each of us, what belongs to Him,
stand on Abba’s promises.
Occupy until He returns or calls us Home.
