Standing

“When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.”
Stanza 2, My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less, Edward Mote, 1834

We are living in perilous times.
The media spews bad reports incessantly-murder, wars, crime waves,
insurrection, hate constantly flooding  the airwaves.
Are you surprised? You shouldn’t be.
Jesus told us what was coming:
And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.
For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled;
for all
 these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
And there will be famines, pestilences,
[b] and earthquakes in various places.
All these are the beginning of sorrows.” ~ Matthew 24:4-8

The heart of all these battles have little to do with politics or flesh and blood.
They have everything to do with the spiritual battles that are getting hotter-
more active- by the day; and we “ain’t seen nothing” yet. (Eph.6:12)

In light of all the global turmoil the question remains:
On what, even more importantly- on WHOM do you place your trust?
On a government, military, police departments, a political party or a candidate? No.
On bank accounts, wealth, position, possessions, your own strength? Again no.
None of these institutions or things will deliver or protect you- they are all temporary; to trust in them is sheer folly.
There is only One who is worthy of your trust-God alone. Only He watches over us in this life and the life to come.
So beloved, fear not…Give up the “right” to understand, cast your cares on Him, and trust.

                     Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
 the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
